24.04.2013: UN City, Copenhagen, Denmark. By 3XN Architects. Named “Green Building Award 2012” awarded by The European Commission. Bringing together the various agencies and functions of the United Nations regional offices in Copenhagen the new Head Office is located at the northern harbour of Copenhagen. 3XN’s star shaped design reflects the nature of each UN unit working independently, efficiently and professionally with a clearly rooted in a mutual set of values - Delivering as One. #allgoodthings #danish #architecture spotted by missdesignsays.
The design is derived from the nautical swirl, a pattern repeated not only in the fluid behavior of water but throughout marine wildlife design as well, the radial shape also dictates the organization of spaces and circulation. The tentacle-like structure seems to hover over a reflecting pool, and once inside the visitor is immersed within several underwater ocean-scapes; similar to the function of a whirlpool, the project pulls the guest into the deep blue to observe the sea life.

Like the idea of this “dancing building”? It’s a competition proposal for the new school for the Stuttgart Ballet in Germany by 3XN Architects. Elegantly placed hillside with sweeping views over the cultural centre of Stuttgart, the orientation of the building is aimed in all three directions - culture, nature andesidential areas. #allgoodthings #danish #architecture

Went to the opening of the NOMA_FoodLab at Restaurant Noma today! And what a treasure!
GXN (the Innovation Unit at 3XN) has created interior for NOMA’s ‘experimentarium’ where chefs can continue to take their skills further in the evolution and development of Nordic cuisine.
The NOMA Lab is connected to NOMA situated in a former warehouse on the national registry of protected buildings. The tight restrictions meant that GXN was required to design the interior without using so much as one single nail in the walls or flooring.
How that can be done? I’ll be back with details ;)
