Denmark’s national gallery, Statens Museum for Kunst. The original building from 1896 was extended in 1996. The old and the new buildings are connected with a glass-covered street, displaying temporary modern sculpture collections whilst preserving the old building.

Despite the massive scale of the buildings, everything is designed on a very human and interactive scale. There’s a room at the end of one of the galleries with shelves of drawing materials and statues for drawing subjects. At the end of another, a small quiet room is tucked away with one of the most interesting benches I’ve ever come across.
