As part of a Danish design team, schmidt hammer lassen architects has won the competition to design the correctional facility Ny Anstalt in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland. The winning design for the 8,000 square metre facility was submitted by a team including Rambøll as full service contractor, architects Friis & Moltke and landscape architects Møller & Grønborg. A side table follows the Danish tradition of turning wood. Flow designed by Danish student Karen Marie Toft for Billund Airport, Denmark. The airport grows its own willow forest in order to deliver 10-15 percent of the airport’s energy, reducing the CO2-emissions. 11 students from Danish TEKO used the willow to design 9 furniture exhibited in the departure area of Billund Airport until August 2013. 800,000 travellers are expected to see the new Danish design - and the favorite - Flow - was found on Facebook, where passengers could vote for the best design. #allgoodthings #danish spotted by missdesignsays.
