Danish company Libratone releases the Libratone Fairytale Edition - five handmade Libratone Zipp speakers, representing different scenes from the Thumbelina fairytale. The speakers will be available in one of several ways, for a limited time only. Auctioned in a benefit for UNICEF.
All speakers are hand-embroidered by Danish cartoonist Stine Spedsbjerg and inspired by the story of Thumbelina by Hans Christian Andersen. The magical speakers will be auctioned on eBay, with proceeds going to UNICEF, the global children’s charity organization and awarded to a lucky winner in a “Fairytale Edition” competition.
The “Fairytale Edition” collaboration with Stine Spedsbjerg began at the Danish Chromatism exhibition, at Salone del Mobile, furniture fair in Milan earlier this year, when Spedsbjerg hand-embroidered selected scenes from Thumbelina on the speakers on display to remind us all that audio speakers are much more than just black boxes!

The international Danish art ceramics-brand, Kähler (since 1839) will open a new concept restaurant and design “shop” in the famous Tivoli Garden in Copenhagen, Denmark. On July 8th the new “Kähler i Tivoli” opens with innovative open sandwiches and sale of their famous ceramics. It’s the 1st Copenhagen-based Kähler-restaurant - they already run three in Aarhus: Kähler Spisesalon, Nordisk Spisehus and Villa Dining.
The new restaurant will be placed in the old building of Restaurant Perlen - a unique building with architecture by Simon P. Henningsen, son of the famous Dane Poul Henningsen (known as P.H.). It will be completely refurnished to meet the demands from Kähler: gourmet and design in a colorful world - just like the garden outside the windows.
Chefs will be Thorsten Schmidt (from Kählers Villa Dining, former Malling & Schmidt) and Dennis Juhl (Nordisk Spisehus) while Tabita Mortensen (Nordisk Spisehus), Waiter of the Year 2013 in Denmark, will be the restaurant manager. The official opening date will be July 8th.

As part of a Danish design team, schmidt hammer lassen architects has won the competition to design the correctional facility Ny Anstalt in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland. The winning design for the 8,000 square metre facility was submitted by a team including Rambøll as full service contractor, architects Friis & Moltke and landscape architects Møller & Grønborg. The Key Table. Danish design from GamFratesi for OneNordic, Finland. SIde table in black, white and natural wood with lacquered ash for the table-top and powder coat for the legs. A side table follows the Danish tradition of turning wood.
