NYC: July 26th 12pm-4pm only: The Copenhagen is turning inside out for one day and letting Revolving Dansk take over. Instead of serving their unique, new nordic menu, R/DK will be serving the food of the streets of Denmark - the authentic rød pølse hot dog.

Why are they doing this? Because danes love their hot dogs, and let’s face it, they are simply better than American hot dogs. Revolving Dansk (R/DK) will be serving the classic danish pølse, with the original Danish fixin’s such as the fried onions, remoulade and Danish sweet pickles.

One of my favorite public buildings in the north-west part of Copenhagen, Denmark is the Library at Rentemestervej. The cultural building by architects COBE and Transform looks like as a stack of books. The golden building has won several awards (e.g. Best Refurbished Building) and is both a library, a community center and an urban space uniting the neighborhood.

The building consists of 4 golden boxes with perforated aluminum
displaced in proportion to each other. At ground floor, there’s a children’s library, then a youth library, a library for adults and finally on top, a concert hall.

The new #bigmaze by BIG Architects and Bjarke Ingels at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. The large-scale maze is 18 feet high and measuring 61 feet by 61 feet made of Baltic birch plywood.

Inspired by ancient labyrinths, garden and hedge mazes of 17th and 18th-century Europe, and modern American corn mazes, this contemporary maze is located in the West Court of the Museum’s historic Great Hall.

"The concept is simple: as you travel deeper into a maze, your path typically becomes more convoluted. What if we invert this scenario and create a maze that brings clarity and visual understanding upon reaching the heart of the labyrinth?", says Bjarke Ingels, the Danish architect who founded BIG Architects in 2005 after co-founding PLOT Architects in 2001 and working at OMA in Rotterdam.

From outside, the maze’s cube-like form hides the final reveal behind its 18-foot-tall walls. On the inside, the walls slowly descend towards the center which concludes with a grand reveal—a 360 degree understanding of your path in and how to get out.

The “BIG maze” will be until September 1, 2014. It’s a part of National Building Museums annual Summer Block Party. Also, it’s a teaser offering a sneak peek into the upcoming exhibition “amBIGuity” by BIG Architects opening in 2015.

New ‪#‎danishdesign‬ from Lyngby Glas, a sub-brand by Lyngby Porcelain. The two classic icons, the Lyngby Vase (designed in 1936) and the Lyngby Bonbonnier (designed in 1944), will be launched in glass in Denmark in September. Spotted by missdesignsays.
